App-specific privacy information: MobileSSH
Purpose of the app
MobileSSH is an SSH client for Android. The app lets you create and manage SSH connections, identities, private keys, terminal sessions, port forwardings, command snippets, backups, SFTP file access, QR code sharing and a code editor.
Data stored in the app
Depending on the functions you use, the following data may be stored locally on your device:
- SSH connection data such as connection name, hostname or IP address, port, username and connection settings.
- SSH identities, passwords, private keys, public keys, passphrases and known-host entries.
- Port forwarding settings, snippets, app settings, theme settings, terminal settings, plugin settings and app-lock settings.
- Session logs, if you enable session logging.
- Backup files or exported files, if you create, share or save them.
Local processing and secure storage
SSH connection data, identities, passwords and private keys are primarily processed locally on your device to provide the requested SSH functions. Sensitive data is stored using Android security mechanisms where available. You are responsible for the servers you connect to and for the credentials you enter into the app.
Network connections
When you connect to an SSH server, the app transmits the data required for the SSH connection to the server selected by you. This may include hostname or IP address, username, authentication data and terminal input/output. These transmissions are necessary for the SSH function and are sent to the server chosen by you, not to a MobileSSH server.
Backups and cloud sync
If you use backup or sync functions, encrypted backup data may be uploaded to the storage provider selected by you, such as Google Drive, Dropbox or a WebDAV server. The backup may contain SSH connections, identities, private keys, passwords, port forwardings and snippets. The selected provider processes this data according to its own privacy policy. MobileSSH does not operate these third-party cloud services.
Snippet templates
If you open the online snippet template store, the app may contact a MobileSSH snippet server to download template metadata and template content. Technical request data such as IP address, time of request, app version, language and requested content may be processed by the server for delivery, security and abuse prevention.
Google Play purchases
Paid app installation and optional in-app purchases, such as SFTP Browser or Code Editor unlocks, are processed by Google Play. MobileSSH receives purchase status information from Google Play to unlock purchased features. Payment details are processed by Google according to Google Play’s terms and privacy policy.
QR codes and sharing
If you create or share QR codes, connection information may be encoded in the QR code. Passwords and private keys are not intended to be included in QR codes. If you share a QR code or exported file with another app, the receiving app or service processes the data according to its own privacy policy.
Files and SFTP
If you use SFTP or the code editor, the app accesses files on the SSH/SFTP server selected by you and may temporarily process file names, paths, metadata and file contents to display, edit, upload or download files. Data is transmitted between your device and the server chosen by you.
App lock and biometrics
If you use app lock, PIN or biometric unlock, the app stores the required lock settings locally. Biometric verification is handled by Android system components. MobileSSH does not receive or store biometric templates.
No advertising and no sale of data
MobileSSH is designed as a paid productivity tool. The app does not sell your personal data. The app does not use advertising SDKs for ad monetization.
Data deletion
You can delete locally stored app data by deleting entries inside the app, using factory reset inside the app, clearing app data in Android settings or uninstalling the app. Cloud backups must be deleted from the selected cloud provider or through the delete function provided in the app where available. 2. General information
Protecting your personal data is important to us. This privacy policy explains which data may be processed when using our apps, for what purposes this data is used, and what rights you have.
The actual data processing depends on the specific app and the functions you use. Many functions are processed locally on your device. Where third-party services such as advertising networks are used, data may be processed by those providers according to their own privacy policies.
3. Legal basis
Where applicable, processing is based on Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR for providing app functions, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR for legitimate interests such as security, stability and app improvement, and Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR where consent is requested, for example for personalized advertising or optional permissions.
4. Permissions
Some apps request permissions only when required for a specific function. You can deny or revoke permissions at any time in your device settings. If a required permission is denied, the related function may not work or may only work in a limited way.
5. Third-party services
Some apps may use third-party services such as Google Play services, Google AdMob, Google User Messaging Platform, Google Maps or similar SDKs, depending on the app. These services may process device identifiers, advertising identifiers, crash information, diagnostics, approximate location, interaction data or similar technical data.
Please also review Google’s privacy information: Google Privacy Policy.
6. Data retention and deletion
Data stored only locally on your device can usually be deleted by deleting app data or uninstalling the app. If an app provides an account or server-based functions, you can request deletion of your account or related data by contacting us at the email address listed above.
7. Your rights
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have the right to request access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability or objection to processing of your personal data. You may also have the right to withdraw consent at any time.
8. Changes to this privacy policy
We may update this privacy policy if app functions, legal requirements or third-party services change. The date of the latest update is shown at the top of this page.
